Gam Jeom

In Taekwondo, a "gam jeom" (감점) is a penalty awarded to a competitor, resulting in one point for the opponent. It's essentially a deduction penalty for prohibited actions or infractions during a match

Infractions or Penalties

Because we are promoting martial arts skillsets, striking the head with the hands will not score any points. If a competitor strikes the head with a hand strike, the first infraction will result in a warning. The second will result in a Gam Jeom. All strikes to the head and face should be with the feet only to display excellent skill. This is why the head kicks result in the most points scored.
